Finished FIAR with Clown of God- discussed the Renaissance and different clothing, dress, and lifestyles, ways to find entertainment, architecture in that period, what a Legend is, the medium used for the illustrations, and the aging process.

FIAR with Clown of God- discussed the contrast between the beginning and ending of the story, what Giovanni had to be thankful for, and the story ending- what makes it a good one even though it was sad.

Read Andy Shane and the Pumpkin Trick by Jennifer Jacobson, Mine's the Best by Crosby Bonsall, Biscuit and the Little Pup by Alyssa Capucilli, Oliver by Syd Hoff, and Here Comes Trouble by Larry Brimner

Found one of the frogs that had grown up from our tadpoles under the BBQ pit!

Went to Capeheart park to plan our new co-op for the Fall and played at the splash pad
Read Swine Lake by James Marshall and Maurice Sendak, Pete the Cat by Eric Litwin, Chester by Syd Hoff, and A Picture for Harold's Room by Crockett Johnson

Tuesday July 12

Had an ice cream party with our co-op!

Monday July 11

Visited the Brevard Zoo and learned about the rainforest, Africa, saw a python, fed the birds in Australia, and got up close to the giraffes

Elle worked in her HWT printing book and wrote a letter to her friend
Justin worked on Get Ready For the Code Book A
We played with our pollywog and found out what habitat it likes best- water vs. land, what it likes to eat
Justin caught a beetle and learned that it eats fruit
Looked up a bug we caught in the garden and it looked like a squash bug (was on the cucumbers)

Science Center "field trip"!

Wednesday July 6

Eric caught a baby snake in the pool and we determined that it was a water snake, not poisonous
Elle wrote a get well letter to my aunt who had surgery

FIAR with Clown of God- discussed balance and repetition in the story, and patterns, and sequencing.  Also discussed miracles and Giovanni's advancing age in the book.
Elle worked on Explode the Code book 3 and finished Lesson 6
Watched Ben & Me about Benjamin Franklin, discussed the Declaration of Independence, the story of the U.S. break from England and why we celebrate July 4/Independence Day

Read the lesson in REAL Science 4 Kids about tadpoles and the frog life cycle, kids drew their versions of the tadpoles and their life cycle, read Wikipedia article about frogs and looked at images of frogs, their eggs, tadpoles, pollywogs, and frogs
Read Tomie dePaola's Now One Foot, Now the Other about aging and the Empty Pot by Demi

Went to the Windermere Library to learn about canine companions and met Harv the golden retriever who helps out children who have had trauma happen to them
Watched La Clase Divertida Lesson 1
Read What Brothers Do Best, Rain, Rain Go Away, and D.W. the Big Boss
